BUDGET CUTS

On July 21, Will County Executive Larry Walsh alerted department heads to a $19 million gap between anticipated expenses and anticipated revenues in the Will County budget for Fiscal Year 2010, which begins Dec. 1, 2009.

County Executive Walsh proposed a budget to the County Board on Sept. 17.  The County Board adopted a budget at its Nov. 19 meeting.

My staff and I have worked with the office of the County Executive and the County Board to reduce the Treasurer's budget for Fiscal Year 2010 by these means:

  1. Two staff members taking early retirement
  2. Seventeen staff members taking six unpaid furlough days
  3. Me taking a pay cut

The newly adopted Fiscal Year 2010 budget as well as the budgets for Fiscal Year 2007, Fiscal Year 2008, and Fiscal Year 2009 are available here.

I welcome your suggestions how my staff and I can continue to provide strong service to the taxpayers of Will County and also reduce the cost of  county government.

Sincerely,

Pat McGuire
Will County Treasurer
