Where Your Taxes Go

Dear Will County taxpayer,

We Will County property owners in 2009 paid $1.5 billion in property taxes. The $1.5 billion was distributed to 253 taxing districts in Will County.

 

Some taxing districts extend more than one levy. A levy is the tentative amount of property tax a taxing district will receive.  An extended levy is the actual amount.  There are 298 extended levies.

Here's how to find the services, boundaries, elected officials, and budgets of the taxing districts which receive your taxes:

  1. First, find the list of extended levies under “Taxing district” on the left side of your 2008 Levy Real Estate Property Tax Bill. If you don’t have your bill, click View 2009 Taxes, follow the prompts to the Tax Detail Inquiry page, and print a copy.
  1. Next, click here for the alphabetical list of taxing district extended levies.
